Dear Friends,
Welcome to Team Lofgren! I’m Mark Lofgren, your State Senator for Iowa Senate District 48. As a lifelong resident of Muscatine and eastern Iowa, I understand the promise and opportunity our state offers because I’ve realized both. I’m running again for this senate seat, as an experienced state legislator to continue helping to ensure the next generation of Iowans experience the same promise and opportunity as I have. Having served as the Muscatine and Scott County Senator for former District 46, this new district, Iowa Senate District 48, was created after the 2020 census was compiled. Iowa Senate District 48 includes all of Louisa County as well as parts of Des Moines, Henry, and Muscatine Counties. I have had the honor of serving this district for the past two years and have attended many legislative forums in Burlington, Mt. Pleasant, Muscatine, Wapello and Wilton during this time. I have also walked in many parades in communities across the district the past two summers.
Before COVID-19, I’d knocked on thousands of doors throughout the district, talked to many of you and listened to your concerns about the future. I’ve learned your concerns have some common themes: Quality jobs that make the American dream possible, a state government that doesn’t mortgage our future and the future of our children, and visible and effective leadership from your state senator. As the former owner of two successful small businesses, a practicing real estate sales representative, a two-term representative in the Iowa House, and a two-term senator in the Iowa Senate, I understand how business works and the impact responsible government can have on it. A strong Iowa depends on both. As a Senator for the past four years, and Senator of this district for the past two years, I’ve worked on and voted for legislation focused on keeping Iowa strong and have worked to help make Iowa the most tax friendly state in the nation. I have been an avid supporter of housing and an advocate for patient safety.
We’ve certainly experienced unprecedented times in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, our state was strong before this and with continued conservative efforts, we will remain fiscally responsible and maintain a healthy economy that will benefit all Iowans. The election in November 2024 may seem far away but the outcome may determine the direction of our district and state for years to come. I believe it is critical we continue the work to create a “jobs friendly” economy partnered with a fiscally responsible state government. To accomplish this, I need your help! Your financial support, volunteer efforts, and your vote will make the difference.
